Somehow I missed seeing your album before now. Three things I especially love about your house: stairway, subway & hex tiles in the master bath, & arched attic windows!! They don’t build houses with that much charm anymore.

Awe, thanks, Pam! You’re so right – they really don’t make homes like this anymore. Looking back at these photos now, I’m pretty amazed at how much charm we’ve uncovered. So much of it was hidden under layers and layers of ick.

Last year we were invited to the home of the couple who owned our house in the 70′s. The husband is 92 now, his wife about 5 years younger, & it was great to hear some of their stories. She said when they first bought the house–which had some work done in the 60′s–her sister in law took one look & said, “If this were mine, I’d set a match to it!” It’s hard to believe that some people can’t appreciate a diamond in the rough & don’t appreciate history. I’m saddened when people tear down houses with unique architecture & history!
